Knight of the Month
2020 Knights of the Month
January 2020 - Jim Walsh
Congratulations to Jim Walsh as our Knight of the Month for January. Jim is an active brother who can always be counted on to support our council and parish events whenever called upon. He recently showed his commitment to our Catholic Church and its mission to defend all life by representing our council at the Walk for Life Rally in West Palm Beach.
Thank you, Jim, for all you do and the example you set for your brother Knights!
February 2020 - Tom Stewart
Tom, a retired police officer, is a founding member of our council, previously serving as Grand Knight as well a Trustee and Faithful Captain of the 4th Degree Assembly 2003.
He, and his wife Eileen, have served St. Vincent Ferrer for years and continue to play a pivotal role in making our festival successful.
Thank you, Tom, for all you do for our church, our community and our council!
March 2020 - Dcn. Frank Iovine
April 2020 - Jeff Toeniskoetter
May 2020 - Stephen Lankau
Stephen, a local attorney, joined the Knights and our council in 2015. Since then, he has always there to help do the toughest jobs with a smile on his face and a contagious positive attitude.
He and his wife Daphne have two children in SVF school, Mia (3rd grade) and Stephen Jr. (2nd grade). If you stop by in the kitchen at a fish fry (when he is busy washing dishes), or catch him with him family at Mass or a school function, please say ‘Hi’ and thank him for his service to the Knights and our parish.
June 2020 - Dr. Richard Masella
Many got a great chance to meet Dr. Masella at his presentation of World War II: How it Changed the World. This presentation came from Dr. Masella’s passion for the history and leadership of WWII and the Korean War (of which he has authored a book!). It was a great event and was well received by those who were able to attend.
Brother Richard and his wife of 45 years, Joanne, have been members of St. Vincent Ferrer for 33 years and have raised two sons, Richard Jr. and Marc. We were happy to have him join his youngest son, Marc, in our council last fall and progress to 3rd degree this January. Since joining our council, Richard has been very active - answering the parish’s call to assist in reopening the church, serving at council fundraisers and making phone calls for our retention efforts. We encourage all of our parish community to say hi to Richard and his family when you see them at church … and keep your fingers crossed that we can convince Richard to share his WWII presentation again in the future when the pandemic is no longer an issue.
July 2020 - Christopher Beckett
Congratulations to brother Chris as our Knight of the Month. Chris has served the council as the Deputy Grand Knight, Chancellor, and as Membership Director.
He and his wife, Reva, organize and run the SVF “Theology On Tap” events. And for the last 2 years as our Programs Director, Chris, Reva and their daughter, Zelia, have spent a lot of time running events like the Silver Rose, Soccer Challenge and Free Throw competition for our fraternal programs.
Through his hard work and leadership, we met our goal of qualifying for Star Council for 2019-2020. Thank you, Chris!
August 2020 - David DeFrancesco
It would be hard to spend much time on the SVF campus without seeing David’s smiling face. David serves weekly as an usher as well as and Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Every Sunday, some of our home bound parishioners count on David to bring them the Body of Christ that is so precious in our faith.
David has been an integral part of the council since joining over 7 years ago. He has served in many leadership roles including as our Past Grand Knight and now serves as our Financial Secretary. And he is always counted on to help out, whenever needed.
Thank you for all you do for the parish and our council, Dave!
September 2020 - Rick Zorovich
Congratulations to brother Rick as our Knight of the Month. Rick has been a member of our council for nearly 10 years and serves the parish on the stewardship council.
A devoted father and stepfather, Rick and his wife, Patty, provide their five daughters a strong and loving Catholic home.
This award recognizes Rick’s support for the council, his hard work and the example he sets to his brother Knights. As a past Deputy Grand Knight, current Advocate, Director of Family Activities, and member of our membership team - Rick never fails to support his brother Knights. Thanks Rick
October 2020 - Very Rev. Canon Thomas J. Skindeleski
October 2020 has been a historic month for the Knights of Columbus as we witnessed the beautification of our founder, The Blessed Fr. Michael J. McGivney. In keeping with this important time in our order, we thought it was most appropriate to recognize a founder of our council and pastor of our parish, Msgr. Tom, as our Knight of the Month for October 2020.
Serving as our Pastor since 2005, Msgr. Tom does not need any introduction. But, if you are not a knight, you may not know all he does to serve our faith through the Knights of Columbus. Msgr. Tom has served as the spiritual leader for our council for years as our chaplain. In addition, he serves all the Knights of Columbus brotherhood throughout the state as both the State and Diocesan Chaplain.
Msgr. Tom has also led the way in helping those in need, delivering aid to the Archdiocese of Nassau after the devastating Hurricane Dorian last year. Though his support of Guatemalan Tomorrow Fund and the many missionary trips led to the Ak’ Tenamit project, he has worked to bring opportunity to those in need in Guatemala while providing an opportunity for knights throughout Florida to live out their Catholic faith.
So, when you bump elbows with Msgr. Tom as you head out of Mass in the coming weeks, we hope you can tell him thanks for all he does to serve the Knights of Columbus and the parish.
November 2020 - Dan Siller
Congratulations to Dan Siller as our Knight of the Month for November.
Dan has been active in our parish for years and now serves as SVF’s Director of Stewardship.
He has been a member of the Knights since 2015. Most recently, Dan took a lead role in promoting the Nite at the Races event and worked to increase the fundraising opportunities through the 50/50, silent raffle and guess your temperature game.
Thanks, Dan, for all your hard work for the church and council!
December 2020 - Marc Masella
Congratulations to our December Knight of the Month, Marc Masella.
Marc joined the council in 2011, serving the as our Outside Guard for a number of years since then. He made his 4th Degree in 2013 and has happily represented the Knights at funerals and other events throughout the diocese as a member of the 4th degree Color Corp.
Along with his job at Publix, Marc also has found time to volunteer at the school, showing his love and pride for his parish.
We thank Marc for his dedication to the Knights, our parish and the whole community!
